machines

This is my most recent machine, an 1890's Cornely K cording machine. This machine produces chainstitch, moss stitch and cording.
1960's Singer 114w103 chainstitch embroidery machine. This is my favorite machine. Some chainstitch enthusiasts swear by the French made Cornely machines but I think the American made Singer machines are every bit as good. I use this machine for most of my chainstitch embroidery work. I also have a 1930's Singer 114w103 and a rare 1913 Singer 114w100.
This is a scarce 1940's Singer 107w102 satin stitch embroidery machine. I don't think this machine was used much as it came to me in near mint condition. This is a free motion zig zag machine. The knee lever that is normally used to lift the presser foot has been adapted to control the width of the zig zag. This machine is also referred to as the Singer Irish.
This is my 1929 Singer 31-15. In my opinion the 31-15 is the best straight stitch machine ever manufactured. This machine works as well today as it did when it was fresh off the assembly line. I bought this machine from the owner of the drapery shop that I worked at years ago.
This is my 1947 Singer 246-3 three thread overlock machine. This little workhouse is another classic Singer industrial.

  1. Hi Jerry Lee! This is a wonderful collections of machines you've got here!

I'm looking to get a simple machine that can be used for chain stitch embroidery but I am a little confused at how to identify the right machine.

Do all chain stitch sewing machines have the ability to do chain stitch embroidery? or are they separate machines all together? How can I tell if it is the right kind of machine?

    Thanks,
    Tina

  6. Hello Jerry,
I had an old machine donated to me. I have been using a Wilcox&Gibbs treadle but a friend of my neighbor's has sold me their Cornley L...I feel like I have just leapt into the deep end. Can you help me to please source a manual and a parts diagram spec sheet. I am also a printer and run an old 60's Heidelberg so hopefully I can figure this out for my own work. I don't embroider as a service. Would love your advice on where to get user manual information as soon as you can send please?
    Lisa
